The celebration of the holy Eucharist (or Mass) is the “source and summit of Christian life”. For Catholics it is the focal point of the week and it is our belief that in the Mass we experience the real presence of Jesus, Body, Blood, Soul and Divinity.
Children who have been baptized, receive communion for the first time when they are between six and eight years of age. At that age, they are properly prepared to understand that in the consecrated bread and wine, they are receiving is the real presence of Jesus.
